Φ410mm Solid PEEK Continuous‑Extruded Rod

Our PEEK equipment successfully produces large‑size solid PEEK rods with a diameter of Φ410 mm (actual measured size: Φ418 mm), setting a new world record for the maximum diameter of solid PEEK rods made by continuous extrusion technology.

Large‑diameter solid PEEK continuous extrusion is widely recognized as a world‑class technical challenge in polymer profile manufacturing.

PEEK features extremely high melt viscosity and a very narrow processing window. When forming large‑cross‑section parts, huge temperature differences occur between the outer and inner layers during cooling. This easily causes critical defects such as internal shrinkage voids, radial cracking, excessive residual stress and uneven crystallization.

Currently, the standard maximum size for mass‑produced continuously‑extruded PEEK rods worldwide is only Φ300 mm. Oversized PEEK products have long been manufactured only by compression molding.

This development project involved great technical difficulty. Many forming issues appeared during trial extrusion. Our technical team carried out precise troubleshooting and fully optimized the complete process. Finally, the trial production was completed successfully.

Compared with conventional compression‑molded blanks, the continuous‑extrusion process enables production of extra‑long custom‑length rods. It delivers consistent and uniform molecular structure across the material with excellent batch‑to‑batch stability. It fully meets high‑end machining requirements for semiconductor components, oil‑and‑gas equipment, large‑size wear‑resistant parts and insulating structural parts for premium machinery.
